PostSubject: News about Zelda : Spirit Tracks   Thu 26 Mar 2009, 9:00 am

Hello everybody,

Here's a topic for sharing news about Zelda : Spirit Tracks for DSi.
I begin with the first trailer about it. You can see it there.

And now some information about the Game Developer Conference, an annual conference which congregate game developers for all around the world in order to share their knowledge. During this conference the trailer was shown and some tips about the game were given.
First of all Zelda : Spirit tracks will be release during 2009 (my guess : probably near October for Christmas).
Secondly there's some new important element in the trailer. The train and most of all the possibility of creating and controlling helpful Shadow Guard(s).

ENJOY and stay alert for some other news!

Yes of course I am ! Because I like the idea of a real chronology in the story since The Wind Waker. I always want to know what happen next.
I am also really interesting by old trains and all the possibility of the DS that were not already used.
So yes I'm eager to play this game I love you

The time line of the story is interesting, i agree, but the fact that Link is using a train as a mode of transportation is far fetched/exagerated.
To me, this shows a modernisation of the Zelda series which is supposed to be,normaly, in a medieval scenario, not in an industrial one.

I hope that you didn't forget that in The Wind Waker, Link as we known in the medieval time is dead a long long long time ago and his legend nearly totally disappeared !
I think that Wind Waker and its following opus was made also for a great change in the technologies in order to have a better range of ideas and also it shows that the legend still remains whatever the age!

Yes, but Wind Waker is more like the Renaissance time period and that doesn't bother me at all because it's not a big change concerning the time period.

In Spirit Tracks, it's more like the industrial revolution and that just brings it way off of the normal Zelda story with horses as a mode of transportation (or boats for WW). To me, Spirit Tracks isn't Zeldaistic due to it's use of a train and it isn't realistic either because Link will be using a sword like in all the other zelda games.

train+gun-->ok
sword+horse-->ok
train+sword--> not ok
horse+gun-->ok (but i prefer not to see that in a zelda game^^)

In Phantom Hourglass we can use steamship I don't think that it's weirder to use train than steamship :s
About Wind Waker and the difference between it and the two other opus I think that when you travel you find places with different technological forwards.
But I agree about the anachronism. However you can't say that Japanese don't like to mix cultures and ages like Hayao Miyazaki... and it's not a problem for me, Zelda or not Wink
